What’s in your luggage?

What kind of baggage are you carrying around?  Let’s face it we all have some.  We may have hopefully left some along the way somewhere.  Often we leave it by the way and then go back at some point and pick it up and start toting it around again….at least I know I do.

We are not meant to be baggage handlers.  In Matthew 11:28-30 it says Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”  In Wikipedia it says A yoke is a wooden beam normally used between a pair of oxen or other animals to enable them to pull together on a load when working in pairs, as oxen usually do.  We are not meant to bear our burdens on our own.  When we are yoked together with Jesus He is working with us.   Psalm 55:22 says Cast your burden on the LordAnd He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

Why do we think we have to carry these things ourselves?  Do we think we are doing God a favor doing it ourselves? Or do we just not  want to bother Him with our problems? After all He’s busy. He has a lot more important things than our problems to handle right?  We’ll just pick it up and keep trudging along.

He wants us to trust Him.  He wants us to give Him our problems, our spouses, our children our loved ones, our jobs and everything that pertains to us.   He knows the end from the beginning.  He knows what’s best for us and the best thing in every situation.   Psalm 62 verse 8  says: Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him;God is a refuge for us. Selah.

He is a refuge for us.  He is our resting place.  Our peace. He is all that we need.

Our days would go so much smoother if we would just take the time to sit and pour out our hearts to the Lord.  Tell Him what your day holds, what your plans are and what is going on in your life.  Then give it to Him and ask Him to show you the way that you should go.  Often He will tell you a strategy that you had not thought about.  Lets just throw our luggage back on that carousel and walk away and leave it there.   Ahhh doesn’t that feel lighter?
