That’s great news! Then God can use you! I was just reading something this morning and one thing the person said was God is going to be using imperfect people to get some things done in the future. My translation. I started thinking about that. Really, He has to use imperfect people what other choice is there? Jesus is the only perfect person who ever walked this earth so now its left to the rest of us imperfect humans to get the things done that the Lord has given us to do.
Sometimes when we think about God using us we think about people with big ministries or Mother Teresa or missionaries in the far corners of the earth and we think well I could certainly never do anything like that. Maybe you won’t. That might not be the kind of thing at all that God has called you to do. But if He does have plans for you to do things like that He will give you what you need to do it and the desire to do it. Or maybe you find yourself looking at other people and comparing yourself to them (Never a good thing to do!) and you think well I could never do what that person is doing. They are more spiritual than me or more outgoing than me or they spend way more time praying than me. Here’s some more good news. Its not about us! God has placed things in us to be used to help other people. When we do what He asks us to do in our weakness He gets the glory! Look at Peter in the Book of Acts (Acts 2). A simple fisherman. He did not go to college to be a motivational speaker. I’m sure he didn’t wear a suit or carry a designer briefcase when he spoke. But God gave Him what He needed. When He got up and spoke it was the Holy Spirit in him that was helping him and giving him the words needed. 3000 people came to the Lord that day. God is the one who was glorified in all that. Not Peter. People were amazed because they knew the apostles were simple men. That’s just one example. Read the Bible its full of stories of imperfect people doing amazing things. I mean seriously some of those people had some real issues!
You are never too old or too young to start being used by God. Ask Him what He wants you to do. If you feel a nudging to do something or get a thought that you know isn’t what you would be thinking to do that may be your first step. If you have kids or even you don’t maybe he’s calling you to help out in your child’s classroom and give the teacher some help. Or maybe to just show some kindness to that kid down the street that makes you crazy sometimes. It might be to just smile or give kind words to the cashier at the grocery store. Or maybe you have already been doing things like that and the Lord is wanting to have you step it up a little. If that’s the case you might already know what He wants You to do you just haven’t agreed to do it yet. Or you know something is coming you just don’t know what yet. All that matters is that you are willing. Willing to do what He asks you to do when He asks you to do it. So just take a deep breath….buckle your seat belt and go for it! Just remember: Phil 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
